Welcome to “The Girl Who Sees God”
So happy you are here! My blog was inspired by The Holy Spirit to grow your relationship with Jesus by helping you to understand His heart. He loves you deeply and unexplainably, but I am going to do my best to explain it. Haha, ironic.
I’m Rae. God always had a piece of my heart, but He really began to pursue me in my mid 20’s. There was so much more to know about Him than I ever imagined. As I walked with Him and spent time with Him, I began to experience healing and joy in getting to know my Father. I realized all my fears about Him weren’t true. He wasn’t the religious, angry, judgmental God I had drawn up in my head from past experiences. I began to know my Heavenly Father as patient, loving, welcoming, powerful, thoughtful, and so on. I am still getting to know Him. So I encourage you to spend real time with Him, ask Him honest questions, surrender your heart, and let Him show you who He is.
There are a few important aspects to having a good relationship with Jesus. If you are new to Him, this page is a simple guide to starting a meaningful relationship with Him.

The Cross
This is where Jesus proved His love for you. The cross is the anchor for Christianity. Did you know that Jesus left heaven, came to Earth, and died on a cross for you specifically? He did! This topic can be talked about forever and there are many details, but just know that Jesus paid the ultimate price for you.
So to start, you begin your relationship with the one true God by acknowledging what Jesus did for you and surrendering your life to Him. John 14:6 says “Jesus told him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.”
You see, Jesus was not only crucified and killed on the cross, but He rose from the dead on the 3rd day. And, His resurrection is the spiritual victory. Even when we were a people who continued to sin and choose worldly things, Jesus chose us. Death and sin were literally defeated by Jesus. Everything we go through in life is conquered through Him. If you are struggling with depression, fear, rebellion, rejection, etc, He is the answer. Jesus is the love that covers and heals every dark thing that tries to consume us.
A lot of times the Holy Spirit will begin to soften your heart to the pursuit of God on your life. That is right; God pursues you. Sometimes you will feel God’s presence which is amazing. But God is not a “feeling.” Without question, God is always there, but it is our choice to give our lives to Him.
And, anyone can give their life to God at any moment. You simply pray a prayer of acknowledging what He has done for you and surrender of your life to Him. Once you have your moment of salvation, your walk with God grows through relationship with Him. These are avenues on growing closer to God.
The Bible
The Bible is God breathed, and it is important to get to know the Word of God. The Word transforms us and renews our mind. It has the spirit of God within it which makes it alive and applicable to you today. It is amazing how a story or scripture can speak and give answers to exactly what someone is going through at that time. That is what makes it so beautiful. We need to be in the Word for it to be made flesh in us.
“For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12 NIV
Along with being active, the word of God also gives you insight into who God is. It allows you to see the heart of God. We get to read about creation and then the resurrection and the ministry of the apostles. The Holy Bible should be studied throughout the course of your life so that we look more like Jesus. There is always more to discover in His Word. It is truly the most exciting book of mankind.
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” John 1:1 NIV
Prayer
“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.” Philippians 4:6 NLT
We have this amazing opportunity to talk to God while we are earth side. We get to give Him our praise, our requests, our needs, and our heart at any time of the day. He is our Father, the author of life, and we should be going to Him for direction.
“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.” Romans 12:12 NIV
Not only can we confidently make our requests to God, but He listens to His children. Good intimate relationships have good, consistent, honest, loving communication, and the same goes with our relationship with our Father. Talk to Him, thank Him for what He has done, ask Him for direction, and tell Him what is on your heart. God hears you, and just like a good parent answers their children’s questions, God will answer yours.
“You will answer me, God; I know you always will. Hear my words like you always do as you listen to my every prayer.” Psalms 17:6 TPT
Worship
“Sing! Sing praises to Yahweh, for he rescues the soul of the needy from the power of the wicked.” Jeremiah 20:13 TPT
There is something special about the supernatural power of worship. Offering your praise to God in the presence of the Holy Spirit fills you up, heals wounds, and allows you to feel and hear what God says about you. It is time with God that weaves your spirits together. Worship serves as a spiritual weapon to fight off the dark things of this world, because the enemy cannot reside where authority is given to God.
Worship is often accompanied by music but it is not necessary to be considered worship. However, music can set a beautiful environment. We should strive to have a heart of worship and a heart that prays continuously, however, intentional time with the Lord is incredibly important for growing in your faith.
Get to Know Him
We don’t have to be hesitant to pursue our relationship with God. Undoubtedly, It is such a beautiful journey, but we do need to be all in or we will run when it gets hard. Don’t believe the lies of the enemy that might try to tell you it is boring or weird or scary. It is actually exciting, necessary, and fulfilling.
“For I hold you by your right hand – I, the Lord your God. And I say to you, ‘Don’t be afraid. I am here to help you.” Isaiah 41:13 NLT
Additionally, God created each of us with unique gifts and purposes. Getting to know God actually helps you to get to know your true authentic self. And each gift and each purpose points back to Him. So maybe, just maybe you can be a part of someone else finding out what true love is.
